Surrey Heath Borough Council to redact names and addresses from published planning comments

Surrey Heath Borough Council to redact names and addresses from published planning comments

From 25 September 2025, Surrey Heath Borough Council will no longer be publishing the names and addresses of individuals who comment on planning applications.

The change ensures compliance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. While comments themselves will still appear on the public planning documents, names and addresses will be removed before publication.

Anyone submitting comments must still provide their name and address so the Council can validate responses, but these details will not be made public. Individuals with privacy concerns are encouraged not to include personal information in the main text of their comments, as this section will not be redacted.

For further details, please see the Borough Council’s website: How to view, comment or object to a planning application (external link).
