The recreation ground playing fields, the children’s playground and the peaceful memorial garden are looked after on behalf of the village by a charity, the Chobham Recreation Ground Charitable Trust*.
The ground was originally created as a war memorial following the First World War on meadowland purchased by money raised through a public appeal. As a further memorial after the Second World War, the formal gates and supporting wall were built and 32 chestnut trees were planted – one for each of the men who lost their lives in the conflict.
Today, the recreation ground provides a large open, green space in the heart of the village, used throughout the year for relaxation, sport and play.

The children’s playground is open all year-round and other FREE recreation facilities include an outdoor tennis table for ping pong and a zipwire.
Please note that all the parking areas at the recreation ground are reserved for users of the recreation ground and its facilities.
PLAYGROUND
Our playground is inspected regularly to check for damage and defects, however, use of the facilities is at users’ own risk.
The recreation ground is also home to Chobham Rugby Club, Chobham Scouts and Chobham Tennis Club. Public sessions can be booked by Chobham residents only free of charge on certain days of the week. Find out more.
