Preparing for winter

Here is useful information from Surrey Heath Borough Council about 5 ways you can be prepared this winter:

Vulnerable people:

• Sign up to the Priority Services Register. This is a service offered by energy suppliers and network operators aimed at people who are vulnerable. Signing up to this can help you or your loved ones get additional support from utility and network providers both day-to-day and during unexpected emergencies.

Covid-19:

• Covid-19 is still a prominent risk so please continue to follow the relevant guidance which can be found on the government website: Covid-19 Guidance to Stay Safe and Prevent Spread.

Flooding:

• Register with the Environment Agency here for flood notifications so that you have early warning of any local risks.

• The Council’s website also provides advice on how to prepare for a manage flood risk.

Severe weather:

• The Met Office website provides a range of advice for winter readiness including road safety while driving, understanding weather warnings and how to keep your home warm in the winter, at Met Office Weather Ready
